Our Programs

FOOD AND NUTRITION SECURITY PROGRAMME

PHCD focus is mainly on Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) and Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition IMAM by enabling the community to achieve various initiatives

CAPACITY BUILDING AND TRAINING (HTS, PALS, ACLS, BLS, EMS)

We capacity building the communities on improved utilization of available resources and encouraging better service delivery through resource pooling.

HIV/AID PROGRAMME - HIV/TB PREVENTION, CARE, TREATMENT AND SUPPORT

Different Counties have diverse background comprising of both urban and rural set-ups as well as a rich ethnic and cultural diversity composition.

WASH PROGRAMME

Under Water, Sanitation and Hygiene programme, PHCD works by increasing access to clean water and improving sanitation and hygiene in the County.

RMNCAH (Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child and Adolescent Health ) PROGRAMME

The key focus areas on the RMNCAH portfolio are maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) and sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for young people and women of reproductive age.

Who we are

PHCD is a registered Non-governmental, non-partisan and non-political Civil Society organization formed in April  2011  with the mission of increasing sustainable health access to communities in Kenya through solutions targeting the poor and oppressed in order to promote human transformation, promoting overall wellbeing and investing in health. Its main focus was to transcend the realm of curative care with a new focus on preventive care.

 At PHCD, we found out that helping people realize their health problems really means so much than providing treatment opportunities for them. Its only when we combine care,food,safety and nutrition initiatives, education, capacity building and training together with self-sufficiency that we truly change communities lives from worse to better.

We build our programmes around Food safety and nutrition as our major programme Then venture into more and more initiatives to support and empower the community in order to change their lives for the better.

PRINCIPLES

PHCD conducts its activities in regard to the following principles;

Safeguarding quality of life: Reducing mortality, improving health and controlling of disease risks through massive education and prevention.

Promoting participation: Engagement, inclusion and solidarity to contribute to social cohesion and welfare of societies by nurturing facilitation and embedding networks in an enabling and conducive Environment.

Strengthening structures: Applying decentralization, good governance and bottom up approach in management

Sustaining livelihoods: Reduce extreme poverty and ensure sustainability by promoting our own welfare, that of communities and the Environment we live in.

Cultivating equality: Achieving rights and obligations of women, youth and children through access too education and empowerment.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

  • To build the capacities and promote health initiatives in communities through sustainable food security, Nutrition trainings.
  • To build capacities and trainings on Sexual reproductive health
  • To empower, build the capacities of women, youth groups and children for sustainable initiatives and projects, Economic development.
  • To train, create awareness care and support in the areas of HIV/AIDS and other diseases both in urban, pre-urban and rural settings.
  • To build the capacity of CBOs, FBOs SHGs and other community organizations for Community System Strengthening (CSS) through sustainable initiatives and mechanisms.
  • To partner and network with community organizations, (CBOs / NGOs), Development Agencies and Donors for sustainable development.
